New Series on the Psalms

New Series on the Psalms

On September 8 we are starting new a series on the book of Psalms. This book is a collection of ancient songs and might be one of the most read books of the Bible, with familiar statements like: “The Lord is my Shepard I shall not want” (Psalm 23:1) and “The Lord is my light and salvation whom shall I fear” (Psalm 27:1).

The Psalms take us to the heights of the great moments and victories of life, but they also speak to us in the moments of defeat and loss when God seems distant and hidden (Psalm 13) and when the “darkness is our closest friend” (Psalm 88:18). The Psalms bring us into an emotional range of experiences that our culture typically avoids, to its own demise. Through bold confession these songs can bring faith and even healing that goes deep in our souls. They do speak candidly of the hard parts of life, but ultimately point to the great hope that through the grace of God all parts of life will end with rejoicing (Psalm 150).

We are looking forward to this series and hope that it will lead others to great confidence in God, even if it first means walking through the dark road of admitting defeats and being honest about hurts. We pray that through this series many will say with the psalmist, “This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. (Psa 34:6).

If you need confidence in your faith, healing in your soul, or simply want to go deep in understanding God’s word then we would love to have you join us!
